Phase 4: Create/Discuss: Inquiry Lesson Demonstration

The project I explored was outdoor learning as an example of the Canadian Forest and Nature School. The starting point of this research is that I think classroom teaching is an important part of modern education and also a manifestation of traditional teaching methods. However, the teaching of teachers should change with the development of The Times. In today’s society, teaching is not only about imparting knowledge, but also about improving students’ psychological quality, learning ability and emotional intelligence.

Moreover, from the perspective of students, better teaching methods will enable students to have more sense of identity with what they have learned or the teacher in the learning process. Forest nature teaching in Canada is a good example of outdoor learning, this example is very feasible. These forest and nature schools encourage children to get close to nature, understand nature and gain more knowledge from nature. Rather than just sitting in the classroom, learning knowledge through textbooks or computers, their educational purpose is in the process of contact with children, let children learn knowledge in nature and find the fun of learning.

For children. This way of learning is more popular than boring learning and outdoor learning can also strengthen children’s physique. Meanwhile, for teachers, outdoor teaching is not a small challenge. Teachers need to choose appropriate teaching content and methods according to students’ interests and abilities. More importantly, they need to strengthen the consideration of children’s care and health problems.
